Following the release of ‘Loyalty’ which takes fans to the darker side of her musical project due for release later this year, singer-songwriter Paige asks the question ‘What is it like in California?’ . Paige’s new single California is out now via Sony Music New Zealand.
“California is about my journey towards my dreams and how I’m yearning to make it in LA with my music. ‘LA’ in my eyes is a symbol of success in the entertainment industry and when I’m there I’ll feel like I’ve succeeded.”
With lyrics like “I thought I’d be there by now, I thought I could make it out” ‘Califonia’ tells the story of a young person’s desire to break free from home towns and the common feeling of presssure felt by many twenty-somethings dreaming about their ‘ideal futures’.
Paige has recently returned from Sydney after writing with some of Australia’s best musical talents ahead of the release of new material in 2023. Paige found her people through the power of the internet, armed with an acoustic guitar and a lot to say, sharing music to Paige’s Space before being piocked up by Sony Music New Zealand in 2019.
The following year, Paige released her successful 2020 EP, Always Growing. Dominating New Zelaand airwaves following its release, singles like the Top 10 Airplay hit ‘Waves’ established Paige at the forefront of New Zealand’s new pop movement, earning two nominations at the Aotearoa Music Awards including ‘Pop Artist of the Year’ and ‘Breakthrough Artist’. She was additionally recognised at the 2021 Waiata Maori Music Awards, receiving the award for Best Maori Solo Artist. ‘California’ is out now and available on all streaming platforms.
