TEEKS (Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi) (Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui) is the 25-year-old rising star well on his way to big stage status following the breakthrough success of his debut EP The Grapefruit Skies in 2017.

His native Aotearoa New Zealand became enamoured with this understated, old soul. Those bright opening bars of ‘If Only’ to the heartwrenching opening lines of ‘Never Be Apart’ have found a permanent place in the consciousness of Kiwis; conveying a sense of “home” for New Zealanders wherever they are in the world. The gifted songwriter had indeed created a capsule of home from his honest songs about love and loss.

A four-track nugget of gospel and grooves, it was nominated for a Taite Music Prize, a Silver Scroll, and won Teeks ‘Best Māori Artist’ at the Vodafone NZ Music Awards that year — he’d also been nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Soul/R’n’B Artist.

Now, TEEKS has revealed his first new music since The Grapefruit Skies EP in 2017 – new single ‘Without You’

“I never knew what it meant to truly long for someone before I wrote this song. That’s the power of heightened emotion. It can hurt so bad that the pain becomes physical.” – TEEKS
