September 9, 2022 – After teasing to fans, Coterie have today released their expansive, powerful new single ‘West Coast Drive’ with a music video filmed along Perth’s West Coast Drive in the northern suburbs. The new single is out now on all streaming services – listen HERE – and pays homage to their second home of Australia. Shot over a weekend with friends on BMX bikes, come into Coterie’s sun-soaked world on the coast.
‘West Coast Drive’ follows the launch of ‘Pūrea’, the reo Māori version of their universally loved hit ‘Cool It Down’, released for Waiata Anthems Week 2022.
With sold-out shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne & Perth, and a major stadium tour of Aotearoa New Zealand with kiwi legends Six60 on the horizon (see dates), Coterie are ones to keep your eye on.
The live five-piece spearheaded by brothers Tyler, Josh, Brandford & Conrad of Te Aupouri, Ngāpuhi & Ngai Te Rangi descent base themselves from the Western coastline of Perth. With traction building in both Australia and their homeland of Aotearoa New Zealand, Coterie are fast becoming known as the most electrifying live act on both sides of the Tasman.
Immersed in the West Coast surf and art culture, the band have developed a blend of soulful rock music with an added dose of harmonies that have audiences wanting more.
The band’s breakthrough came in two stages. The first was a grass roots, fan-supported online campaign targeting iconic Six60, leading to Coterie not only building a friendship with the band but securing supports on their Australian & NZ 2022 shows.
The second stage came when they released what would become their first major radio hit ‘Cool it down’. Written in their living room, ‘Cool it down’ was the little song that could, finding a unique connection with audiences all over their homeland of Aotearoa. It soon became clear the band had an undeniable hit on their hands. To date, ‘Cool it down’ has hit #1 on the NZ Radioscope Chart, #1 on Shazam, #1 on the Hot 20 NZ Singles Chart, and peaked at #26 on the Spotify Top 200 where it has spent over 6 months.
Over the past 24 months Coterie have amassed more than 10 million streams, 1.7 million YouTube views, and seen a swell of dedicated Coterie fans form around them.
